Ewwww!
I just read this article online about germ havens. I had to share it because it's grossed me out a bit. I wasn't surprised by some of the items on the list, but didn't realize bath towels (and hand towels) and washing machines are that incredibly dirty. And how about salt and pepper shakers? Ewww. Time to break out the bleach!

I'm hoping for a snow day tomorrow or Tuesday, and if my wish is granted, I'm cleaning the refrigerator and washing machine!!
I just read a book about this same thing so I knew pretty much all of it. I do not use towels in the bathrooms anymore. I bought two paper towel holders from Target for about $2 and I just stock cheap paper towels. I then recycle the towels so I am not being wasteful. We also quit wearing our shoes in the house b/c Lord knows what gunk we drag in the house on our feet.
